چکیده
Abstract In this research, the environment-friendly dry electrical discharge machining (EDM) process is investigated to improve microhardness, surface finish, and white layer thickness of machined surfaces using graphite-argon gas as a dielectric medium. The graphite powder, mixed with compressed argon gas, has been used replace existing medium in EDM process. Gas pressure, current, pulse width, gap voltage were working input parameters reduce roughness enhance microhardness thickness. Taguchi L16 orthogonal array applied design analysis experimental results. minimum (2.23 μ m) HN31 steel attained by increasing pressure up 1.0 MPa values width (40 s), V), current (6 A). maximum (501.04 HV) obtained at 1.2 120 s 60 V voltage, 18 A current. (16.24 achieved (1.2 MPa), (160 (70 V) (18 SEM had done reveal recast SR increased layer, pores, microcracks on surfaces. Finally, multi-criteria optimization technique: Weight Product Method (WPM) predict optimum parameter settings: GP: MPa, PW: s, GV: 50 V, DC: meet best performances (MH = 493.32 HV, WLT 14.28 m, 3.82 m). validation tests confirm predicted results both WSM methods.

This study explored the effect of porosity and installation angle, thickness (dimension) and second layer of permeable obstacles on density current control and trapping in the laboratory. For this purpose, an insoluble suspended polymer and two types of groove and cavity obstacles made from plexiglass sheets were selected. The experiments were conducted with two different concentrations, five d...
متن کاملEffect of surface roughness on steel-steel dry friction coefficient
The influence of surface roughness magnitude and direction on dry static friction coefficient between two similar steel samples has been studied through an experiment. A testing apparatus has been designed and fabricated to measure the friction coefficient for a few forms of surface asperity. According to the results of the experiments, dry friction coefficient is affected by both magnitude and...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation on Surface Roughness and Edge Chipping in Micro Ultrasonic Machining
Surface quality including surface roughness and edge chipping is a key process measure in micro ultrasonic machining (Micro-USM) as an efficient process for micromachining of hard and brittle materials. Process parameters such as ultrasonic vibration amplitude, static load, type of tool material, type and size of abrasive particles and slurry concentration can influence the surface quality. How...
متن کاملSurface roughness and dry friction.
Persson's multiscale contact mechanics theory combined with a multiscale Brillouin-Prandtl-Tomlinson model is used to show that on the basis of these models "dry friction" [i.e., kinetic friction that remains at exceedingly small velocities (but still above the creep range) close to its value at higher velocities] should almost always occur for self-affine surfaces when the dominant interaction...
